Hook it up
Connecting the Lotus
Speaker cable in, speaker cable out, and everything connected before the amp is switched on.
Before you start
- Match the model to the amp. Use the Lotus whose impedance matches your amp's speaker output: a 2, 4, 8 or 16 Ω Lotus for a 2, 4, 8 or 16 Ω output.
- Use speaker cables, never instrument (guitar) cables, from the amp to the Lotus and from the Lotus to the cab.
- Connect with the amp off, or in standby. A tube amp has to see a load whenever it is on.
- Leave Bypass / Run alone while the amp is running. Switch it only with the amp off or in standby.
One cab
- Amp off. Amp's speaker output to the Lotus Amp jack, the one with the copper ring.
- The Lotus output to the cab.
- Bypass / Run down, to Run. Set the toggles on the front panel.
- Switch the amp on and turn it up.
Two cabs
Each model's back panel is lettered for its own loads; the back panel lists them for 2, 4, 8 and 16 Ω.
As a dummy load
Keep Bypass / Run on Run. In Bypass the Lotus passes the amp straight through to the speaker jacks, so the amp needs a speaker on them.
Power for the fan
Nothing to connect. The fan runs off your amp's own signal. If you'd rather power it separately, plug 9–18 V AC or 9–24 V DC into the EXT Power jack.
